For
anyone "not in the know", the term popularly
used for gay bars, gay nightclubs and other gay-friendly/gay-specific
entertainment venues is
"The
Scene"
Reflecting
the diverse political, cultural and population spreads
of Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross, "The Scene"
in Tayside has for many years been solely located in Dundee:
situated within a stone's throw of each other, Dundee's
two gay bars/pubs and one gay club (which contains an
additional gay bar within) are all located in the "Seagate"
area of the city.
A
recent development however, has been the advent of "VIBE"
at Perth's "City Nightclub" (see below), and
a growing list of gay-friendly venues in Tayside's neighbouring
areas; Aberdeen, Fife and Stirling.
For

STAYING
SAFE ON THE SCENE
The
Scene can be a fun place to be, but don't forget to take
of yourself whilst there. Here are a few tips for staying
safe on the Scene:

Don't let alcohol or the "feel good" factor
of the Scene go to your head or overcome your better
judgement- if you're going to have sex with someone
you've met there- stay safe. Gay Men's Health Tayside
supplies free condoms & lube to Tayside's Scene
venues. Look out for baskets of free condoms &
lube in the main bar areas and condom vending machines
in toilet/restroom areas. If you don't see any condoms-
ask.

Don't leave your drink unattended. If you have
left your drink behind- even for a few seconds-
discard it and buy another.

Don't stand outside a pub or club on your own,
even if waiting for a taxi or lift- always leave
with someone else, or stay inside until your taxi
arrives.
